Khichadi for kids


Khichadi means a mixture or a combination of different things. There are various ways to make a khichadi ...below is a very common style to make one. You dont need to be a super chef to make one. As we are basically looking for a mushy textured rice.

You can add different kind of good veggies (WHICH YOUR CHILD LIKES) - - spinach, carrot, beetroot, Methi leaves/ fenugreek, Corn etc

Ingredients :-

Rice 1 Cup

Moong Dal 2 Tsp

Cumin Seeds 1/2 Tsp

Asafoetida 1/2 Tsp

Salt 1/2 Tsp

Pepper Powder A pinch ( kids below 15 months skip the pepper altogether)

Turmeric Powder 1/2 Tsp

Green Peas 1/2 Cups

Garlic 2-3

Water 2 Cups

Method :-

1) wash rice and moong dal atleast 3 times. then in a Pressure cooker Dish , put everything together

& add water ( 1 cup of rice =2 cups of water & so on. ) and pressure cook it for 5-6 whistle.

2) once done combine everything well and remove as much needed for a child and add in 1 spoon of Ghee & serve when not very hot to eat.(*** Do check tasting a bite if it is not too hot***)
