onion roti

I make this often, it can be made any time of the day, breakfast served with pickle and yogurt and lunch / dinner

Ingredients :-

Wheat atta 1 Cup

Onion (Thinly Chopped ) 1 Small

Coriander Chopped 1/2 Cup

Salt 1 Tsp

Water 1 Cup ( as much needed )

Red Chilli powder Or Green Chillies 1/2 Tsp (Red Chiili Pwdr) or 2 green chillies finely chopped

Cumin Seeds 1 tsp

Turmeric Powder 1/2 Tsp

Ajwain / Caraway Seeds 1 Tsp

Butter

Oil For smearing on the Atta / Dough .

Method :

1) In a large bowl add all the ingredients ( Atta, Onion, Coriander,Salt, Red chilly Pwdr, Turmeric Pwdr,Cumin Seeds, Ajwain ) & sprinkle water little by little and knead to make a dough( which does not stick to your hands) .

2) Smear some oil , so the dough stays soft, cover and rest for 30 mins ..i prefer to prepare this at night and the next it turns out to be super soft.

3) divide the dough into balls and make roti just like tortillas , dusting the dry flour on either side.

4) Heat a flat pan and once it becomes hot enough, place the roti and roast on-both sides smearing some good amount of oil or butter ...or can omit the use of grease completely .

5) Enjoy with any curry or some pickle and sweet yogurt (Yogurt + sugar ).

Make it once and it will go to recipe when you thinking what easy recipe can be made today, which will be tasty & easy . Carry it in office, or take it on a picnic or send them as lunch for kids with some strawberry jam or Nutella to go with.

Happy Cooking :-
