Onion -Tomato Chutney


I dont want to write anything about this, would say you make it once and you will keep making it always. You can carry it in your train rides or any picnic as well, as this doesnt get spoiled for couple or days or more ....

Ingredients :0

Onion 2 large

Coconut Oil 2 Tbsp & more 2 Tbsp

Tomato 2

Mustard Seeds 1 Tsp

Asafetida / Hing 1 tsp

Dry Red Chillies 2-3 ( as per taste )

Curry Leaves 5-6

Red Chilli Powder 1 Tsp ( as per taste )

Salt 1/2 Tsp or 1 tsp (as per taste)

*** You will need Mixer/ Grinder , A deep pan , spatula, spoon ***

Method :-

1) Heat a wok/ Kadai ,add some coconut oil, when it gets hot..add Sliced or chopped onions & roast it until light brown.

2) Then add tomato and saute for another 10 mins .

3) Remove in a plate/ dish and let it cool completely and then you grind into thick chunky paste.

4) In the same pan add 2 Tbsp pf coconut oil, when hot add 1 Tsp of Mustard Seeds -let it crackle.

5) Then add Hing/ Asafetida, Dry red chillies , Curry Leaves - let it saute for 3-4 mins

6) And add in the paste prepared & add in red chilli powder & salt .

7) Saute for 10 mins on medium size, while constantly stirring.

**** The more time you saute, the darker it gets ****

serve it along Idli / dosa ...
