Methi is very easy to grow, You don't need to be professional or need to have a green thumb. Have listed a detailed video on how to grow methi/ fenugreek from seeds and it can be grown anywhere. You can grow in a pot, or a plastic flat bin or aluminum trays used for baking / cooking in oven or best way directly grow in the ground.
After you sow the seeds, you will notice in 4-7 days time, the seeds starting to germinate. And in no time you will have your own methi to enjoy .
Some of the benefits of consuming methi are as follows :-
* High amount of Iron & Magnesium
* Increases the flow of milk- post delivery( Nursing mothers).
* Oil prepared with methi seeds, reduces hair fall and dandruff / itchy scalp.
* Helps digestion .
* Reduces the risk of colon cancer.
* Adds flavor to any cooking.
Take a handful and spread it into the ground. And cover it with a very light amount of soil & not very deep into the soil.
They thrive even in rainy and cold weather- they do excellent in warm weather.
I waited to all the leaves to be opened and grow just the right length you find at the store. ( all without any chemical used.)
*** Pick / Break the leaves with little stem attached to it and wash and use it for various recipes
Ingredients :-
fenugreek /methi 1/2 to 1 cup washed & chopped. Onion(shallot ) 1 small thinly chopped Salt. 1/2 tsp Red chili powder 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp Besan /gram flour 1 tsp (optional ) Wheat flour. 1 cup Jowar flour. 1/2 cup Kuttu flour / buckwheat 1/2 cup Sesame seeds. 2 tbsp Cumin seeds . 1/2 tsp Water 1/2 cup or less
* If you dont find jowar or kuttu flour- you can use any other grain flour you find
Some of the other flour that can be used are :- Almond flour, Coconut Flour, Quinoa flour, Bhakri Flour , spelt flour, semolina flour ..etc )
Method :-
In a large bowl add all the above ingredients except water . Combine all well.
Then knead & form the dough using water little by little. Make sure not to pour water all at once ...sprinkle little by little & form the dough. Then later some few drops of oil & knead one more time and cover and keep it for 1 hr.
And after 1 hr ...
Make it just like thalipeeth , in case you are not able to form a roti , just like wheat roti.
So the best way is to take a aluminum foil or zip lock cover / milk cover & put oil and by putting some compression make the thalipeeth .
. Place it in a hot tawa ...drizzle some oil and roast both sides .
Serve it the way you like it ...pickle , yogurt or any curry or just like that .
